Is crypto currency a good investment?

“Ahead of The Global Group UK Investor Show next month, the organisers have asked me to discuss whether crypto currency is a good investment.

The answer is 100% yes!

I was born in 1969 and I remember going to gold conferences in the 2000s. I would be the youngest person there.

When I started going to crypto conferences in the 2010s, I would be the oldest person there.

Crypto is definitely a young person’s game. I’m pretty sure it’s their revenge on the old for unaffordable housing.

My advice is to get yourself a wallet – Muun is a good place to start on your phone or Exodus on your computer. Buy £20 worth from an exchange such as Gemini or Binance. Get a friend to do the same and then practise sending each other small amounts of money. In other words, familiarise yourself with the tech.

Don’t be one of those people who rules themselves out of the game by declaring “I don’t understand it”. I bet you don’t know how Hypertext Transfer Protocol works or Simple Mail Transfer Protocol and yet you still use the world wide web and email. (Those are the initials http and smtp by the way).

I bet you don’t fully understand how debt based fiat currency works – and yet you still use money.

You don’t need to understand how it works in order to use it. You just need to understand that it does work.

Once you’ve played with the tech a little, and decided actually, this is quite cool – or that it’s rubbish – then you can decide whether or not to invest more significant sums.

But I’ll tell you one thing: bitcoin is a far sounder system of money than pounds or pence. If only because it is beyond the power of governments to print and debase and thereby confiscate the value of your savings or salary.

So get with the kids, and get some crypto!”
